The president of SEIU California, David Huerta, was assaulted and arrested while peacefully protesting ICE raids in downtown Los Angeles on Friday. While he has been released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries, he remains in custody.
David is an LA native, a labor leader who has fought tirelessly for immigrant communities, and he is one of thousands of people of good conscience across the country who are standing up for what’s right: an end to ICE raids that are tearing our communities apart.
SEIU locals across the country are doing everything they can to support David and call for his immediate release – just like they did for our union sister who was detained earlier this year. It’s crucial that we make our voices heard.
Along with other SEIU Massachusetts State Council locals, we’re anchoring an emergency rally tomorrow in Boston in solidarity with our union brother. Please join us if you're able.
