What do you call a bill that would rip
health care away from millions of Americans?
And slash programs that help people pay for their groceries?
And cancel clean energy programs?
And jack up utility bills?
And rub salt in the wounds of every struggling family by using those cuts
to pay for massive tax breaks for the richest men in the world?
And represent the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in
American history — with our nation’s biggest-ever cuts to health care and
food assistance?
If you’re Donald Trump and House Republicans, you call it the “One Big
Beautiful Bill Act.” That’s the official name of the legislation — not
just their nickname for it.
Some other Senate Republicans might infamously call it the “Well, we all
are going to die” bill.
But instead of repeating Trump’s branding (he sure does love to brand
things, from “Trump Water” to “Trump Steaks”), I’ve been calling it
Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, because that’s what it is.
[ [link removed] ]I want to know what you think: what’s a more accurate name for Trump’s
budget plan instead of the “Big Beautiful Bill”? Do you have a catchy
go-to when you’ve been calling out its harms to your friends and family?

know.
The Big Ugly Bill’s mission fits on a bumper sticker: “Billionaires win.
Families lose.”
And even though House Republicans are eager to call it beautiful, it looks
to me like they are pretty embarrassed about the legislation. They
scheduled their first vote on the bill at 10 o’clock on a Sunday night,
and their next vote at 1 a.m. on a Wednesday. The bill finally squeaked
through the House at 6 in the morning.
But even if they try to
keep moving under the cover of darkness, we are going to make them own
this deeply cruel piece of legislation.
We won’t let them dodge accountability — even if they hide from town
halls, they’ll still have to face voters at the ballot box.
And we will make it clear that the Republican Party under Donald Trump is
trying to crush working families to reward the most ultra-rich of the
ultra-rich.
Here’s the way I see it: no baby should go hungry so that Mark Zuckerberg
can buy another Hawaiian island.
No person with a disability who needs a wheelchair or a home health aide
to live independently should have to give that up so that Jeff Bezos can
buy a third yacht.
No grandma should be pushed out of her nursing home so that some
billionaire hedge fund manager can throw another $3 million wedding.
No one in America should go without health care so that Elon Musk can take
a rocket ship ride to Mars.
I’m fighting to keep these outrages from happening — and I’m grateful to
fight by your side.
[ [link removed] ]If you’re ready to make sure Republicans can’t re-brand their way out
of accountability, share a new name for their plan — and let’s make sure
every person across the country knows just exactly what this plan is.
Thanks for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
