Dear John:

There is a lot of misinformation being spread about what's in the One Big Beautiful Bill and I want to address one thing in particular here. Democrats are trying to convince people that we are gutting Medicaid. This is simply false. We are making sure Medicaid goes to the people who need it and that we use every taxpayer dollar wisely. The only Medicaid enrollees losing coverage from the One Big Beautiful Bill are illegal immigrants, people who are receiving Medicaid who are not actually eligible, or able-bodied adults without dependents who are choosing not to engage in their community.

Unfortunately, many on the Left hate Donald Trump and what the Republicans are accomplishing so much that they are willing to let the American people suffer for it. Lying about the realities of the Medicaid provisions and scaring people does not accomplish anything for the American people, but voting against this bill and for the biggest tax hike in this country's history will hurt them. You can watch more of my comments here.

Delivering on Promises to the American People

This week, the House passed legislation to hold Sanctuary Cities accountable for their pro-illegal immigration policies, defending American-owned small businesses, and supporting communities that are working to stop the opioid crisis. I had the privilege of speaking in support of these bills when I managed the Rules debate.

The American Entrepreneurs First Act solidifies President Trump's executive actions with common-sense legislation to ensure that businesses receiving federal benefits are 100% owned by U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

The Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act supports the Small Business Administration's announcement to relocate offices that are in sanctuary cities to less costly and more accessible locations that better serve the mission and comply with federal immigration law. This bill gives the Administration 120 days to deliver on their commitment and relocate these offices.

The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act builds on the successful 2018 legislation to provide resources for prevention, education, treatment, recovery, workforce, and law enforcement to help patients struggling with substance use disorder.

Census Bureau Hiring Temporary Field Staff

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking for temporary field representatives and supervisors to help with various surveys and special censuses. These individuals will play a key role, connecting with their communities and collecting data. This is a great way to make sure the people of Minnesota's 7th District are adequately represented on the national stage, as the next census count will determine how many Congressional districts are in each state.

Opportunities are available immediately. For more information on job openings or to apply, visit the Census Bureau's Jobs in Your Community page.
