Monday, June 2, 2025: On Saturday of this past weekend, I had a virtual conference with a business group in Atlanta to update them on issues in Washington, DC. I also traveled to St. Marys in Camden County where I was honored to be the guest speaker at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Patrol Boat Dedication and Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home celebration. This annual event is a Memorial Day remembrance event and was held at the Howard Gilman Memorial Waterfront Park on the river. Led by former VFW State Commander Patsy Schreiber, the event honored all Vietnam Veterans in the community and featured a dedication and boat rides on the recently refurbished Patrol Boat. Later in the day, I traveled to Savannah where I attended the Equine Valor Project non-profit launch on River Street. The mission of the project is to provide services to military personnel and veterans through Equine Activity and Therapy programs. This great project is a place for Veterans and First Responders to find support through the use of horses with fellow brothers and sisters in arms.

Tuesday, June 3, 2025: After finally making it back to Washington yesterday after numerous delays and setbacks, I head to the House Chamber where I pay tribute to Richard ‘Dick’ Wallace from Savannah and a long-time member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church who recently died, Berry College in Mount Berry, for being ranked the #2 ranked most beautiful campus in America, Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course at Richard B. Russell State Park in Elberton for being named one of the top 10 public golf courses in America, and NFA Burger in Dunwoody, for being named the best Georgia Burger. Once back in our office, I have a virtual non-public briefing with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for an update on their ongoing investigation of the impact of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM’s) on Independent Retail Pharmacies. Afterwards, I meet with the Community Development Bankers Association (CDBA) before having a virtual district staff meeting followed by a meeting with our White House liaison for the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Committee, Joe Ballard. Next, I join in on our all-staff conference call followed by a series of staff meetings, including a scheduling meeting, communications meeting and leg team meeting. After our weekly meeting with staff of the E&C Health Subcommittee, I head to my House colleague Rep. Susan Bonamici’s (D-OR) office for a meeting. Rep. Bonamici and I are the co-chairs of the bi-partisan House Oceans Caucus (HOC), a group created to give a bipartisan voice within Congress on ocean issues. The goal of the HOC is to build awareness, exchange information and ideas, and explore important issues that relate to the oceans. Afterwards, I head to the Russell Office Building on the Senate side where I address the full group of the Community Development Bankers Association (CDBA) before heading back to the House side of the Capitol for our weekly Whip team meeting before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the week. After remaining in the Chamber to pay tribute to Claxton businessman and Pooler resident Chris Gay, who recently passed, I head downtown where I attend the U.S. Energy Stream CEO event at the 10th annual Washington Energy Summit.

Next, I head back to the Capitol where I meet with Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and the newly appointed Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, Gail Slater, for an introductory meeting. Once back in our office, I meet with the National Automobile Dealers Association (ADA) and American Truck Dealers (ATD) before meeting with the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC). Thursday, June 5, 2025: I’m live on the John Fredericks show this morning as I discuss, with my good friend, news of the day. Next, I head to the House Chamber for our first and only vote series of the day and afterwards pay tribute to Senior Citizens, Inc, of Savannah for the 65th anniversary of the Meals on Wheels Organization. Later, I head downtown for a meeting with health care organizations including Takeda Pharmaceuticals.
