ACTION SPOTLIGHT
No Dirty Drilling in Our Oceans
The Trump administration is developing a
new proposal that could dramatically increase oil and gas leasing
off our coasts, opening up huge swaths of ocean from the Gulf of
Mexico to the Arctic for dirty drilling, in part under the guise
of a “National Energy Emergency.”
The U.S. is not in an energy emergency — we’re the world’s
leading producer of oil and gas. This plan is yet another attack
on our nation’s ocean waters for fossil fuel industry profits,
while our climate, coastal communities, and endangered marine
wildlife like Rice’s whales and Cook Inlet belugas pay the price.
The administration is accepting public
comments on its drilling plans until June 16: Submit a message of
opposition now. ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Trump Administration Takes Aim at
Lifesaving Clean Vehicle Standards
The U.S. EPA is now considering rolling
back or even eliminating lifesaving emissions standards for clean
cars and trucks.
Transportation is the single largest source of climate pollution
in the U.S. Weakening these standards makes no sense: They reduce
costs for drivers, boost domestic manufacturing and job creation,
improve air quality, and help address the climate crisis.
NRDC activists submitted over 26,000 comments — and several even
testified at public hearings — to help secure these vital vehicle
emissions standards last year. We will not let them go without a
fight.
Tell the EPA you support strong
pollution standards for cars and trucks that protect our health
and climate. ( [link removed] )

LITIGATION UPDATE
VICTORY! Trump Administration Agrees to
Restore Climate Webpages
Days after the inauguration, federal
agencies began quietly purging vital climate information from
public websites. They removed tools, maps, and reports that
communities, scientists, and policymakers rely on. NRDC, along
with our partners, took immediate legal action to ensure this
information was restored and protected — and we won. Just days
before a face-off in court, the Trump administration backed down
and agreed to restore the scrubbed climate resources. Read more >

* FERC Approves Polluting LNG Export Terminal: ( [link removed] ) The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC) reapproved
the CP2 liquefied natural gas export terminal. NRDC and our
partners filed a lawsuit in 2024 challenging FERC’s initial
unlawful approval, and we will keep fighting in and out of court
to block the polluting project. Read more > ( [link removed] )
DEEP DIVE
How the Federal Government Pretends the
Climate Crisis Doesn’t Exist
The government is baking climate denial
right into U.S. policy. They’re busy working to strike down the
fundamental EPA finding that climate change endangers human
health and welfare, gutting programs that have helped advance
climate action, and thwarting the growing renewable energy
industry — all to make corporations money while the rest of us
pay the price. Read more > ( [link removed] )
