Watch as we highlight community leaders working in Wilmington, Baltimore and Chicago discussing the connection between health and wealth outcomes and how they have been addressing disparities in their communities that have been magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic. This episode is moderated by Cat Goughnour, Associate Director of Racial Wealth Equity at Prosperity Now, and features Logan Herring, Chief Executive Officer at Kingswood Community Center; Althea Saunders-Ranniar, Director of Financial Services and Education at Bons Secours Community Works, and Dennis Mondero, Executive Director at Chinese Mutual Aid Association. The leaders share interventions and solutions they created that are designed to disrupt racial economic inequality. The objective is to improve social, economic and political systems that dictate the social determinants of health – the conditions in which we work, live, play and pray. This series will highlight the grassroots and community innovations that have been developed and piloted to address the challenges of racial economic inequality. In this series, we will feature nonprofit leaders of color across U.S. cities and share how they are advancing racial economic equity solutions in health care, employment, income, housing and education – particularly in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we will discuss the historical basis for present-day inequality and elevate solutions that are being used to disrupt the reoccurring patterns of inequality in communities of color. Join us for new episodes, on the dates below, at 3 pm EDT.
