Hi John,
Celebrating Pride Month is about much more than raising Pride flags, attending parades and wearing rainbow colors. It’s a time to stand up strongly as allies with the LGBTQ+ community and support their rights to live freely and without judgment. It is also a time to condemn those who spew hateful, bigoted ideas or messages that run counter to our shared Democratic Party values of inclusion.
Hate has no home here in Morris County or anywhere else. There is no room for maligning vulnerable members of our community.
As we celebrate the month, let’s not lose sight that June was chosen because of the Stonewall Riots that took place in June 1969 and sparked the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Sadly, not everyone shares our highest values.
Let’s celebrate Pride. Dance at the parties. And, keep in mind, we must pledge to fight for those rights in June and all year long. |
