Between 2017 and 2018, the editorial and video staff of Vox Media—the company behind popular brands like Vox.com, SB Nation, The Verge and Eater—formed a union and joined the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE).

Since then, management unexpectedly laid off union staff and ignored a request from workers to form a consolidated union with their colleagues who work at The Dodo and Thrillist. Now WGAE members are fighting for a new contract that addresses inflation, rising health care costs, critical artificial intelligence (AI) protections and other essential workplace issues.

These writers at Vox Media need your help to win a fair contract before their current agreement expires at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 12.

Please send a letter to Vox Media CEO Jim Bankoff urging him to bargain in good faith and agree to our proposals on pay, benefits, use of AI, layoff protections, creating one union for WGAE members at Vox Media, and other open items before the expiration deadline.

Our proposed terms are fair, reasonable and focused on the sustained well-being of all the workers who make Vox Media a successful company:

Layoff and AI policies to protect workers’ jobs and make any future layoffs more humane.
Fair pay and benefits to keep workers afloat, now and in the future.
One union and one contract for all WGAE members at Vox Media.

Unfortunately, Vox Media management has refused to discuss our proposals in good faith, and rejected many of them outright without even offering counterproposals. We need your support to push the company toward a fair deal.
