Our affiliate, the National Redistricting Foundation (NRF), has been involved in legal cases in FIVE STATES with big implications for fair maps and fair representation:

ALABAMA: The fair maps movement recently notched a victory that upholds Alabama’s fair map for the rest of the decade.

FLORIDA: NRF-supported voters and organizations have engaged in a years-long legal challenge to Florida’s racially discriminatory map since 2022.

GEORGIA: The NRF initiated a challenge to Georgia’s unfair legislative and congressional maps for diluting the power and representation of Black voters.

TEXAS: NRF supported plaintiffs are challenging Texas’s unfair maps for diluting the voting power of Latino voters.

LOUISIANA: The fair maps movement went before the U.S. Supreme Court to keep Louisiana’s current fair map in place — a ruling is expected any day now!

The outcome of these cases will affect the makeup of up to SIX congressional districts and SEVEN state legislative districts.

It’s an ongoing struggle to make sure voters can participate in a truly representative democracy.

We need all hands on deck to respond when courts make changes — how we stand up in these pivotal moments can make the difference in fair representation.
