Governor Walz Calls Special Session After Reaching Budget Agreement with Legislative Leaders

On Friday, Governor Walz announced that he has called a special session [ [link removed] ]after reaching a budget agreement [ [link removed] ] with Republican and Democratic legislative caucus leaders. The special session will begin on Monday, June 9, at 10:00am.

*“This bipartisan budget agreement makes thoughtful reductions in state spending while keeping us on track to make Minnesota the best state in the country to raise a child,” *said Governor Walz*. “It is the result of hundreds of hours of good-faith, bipartisan debate on the best ways to improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of Minnesotans. While all sides had to make concessions in order to reach a compromise, I’m grateful to our legislative partners for their collaboration and dedication to moving Minnesota forward.” *

Governor Walz talks with farmers in Cannon Falls

Governor Walz announced a new $2.4 million initiative to develop and implement agriculture-focused workforce training programs.

*“Farmers drive our economy, contribute to a nation-leading industry, and most importantly, provide the food and raw materials that the rest of the world depend on,” *said Governor Walz. *“We should be supporting, training, and encouraging the next generation of farmers. Training programs like this one are an effective way to help people overcome barriers to gaining the skills and knowledge they’ll need to enter one of the growing career areas in agriculture.”*
