John,
In 10 days, Donald Trump is planning to throw himself a military parade to celebrate his own birthday, on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army.
This isn’t patriotism. It’s a political stunt rooted in ego and control.
While Americans struggle with soaring costs, and essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP face devastating cuts, Trump wants to blow $45 million in taxpayer money on a glorified show of force. Even worse, he plans to use active-duty service members as political props — the same troops whose jobs and benefits he’s threatened with his own executive orders.
Look, I served in the Army for over 25 years. I defended this country and lost my military career standing up for democracy. This parade isn’t just egotistical. It’s dangerous, disrespectful, and deeply un-American.
So today, I’m asking you to stand with me against Trump’s most recent atrocious abuse of power and attempt at self-glorification.
Thank you,
