Good morning John
As a party we are focused on connecting with people, on delivery and on preparing to fight to win again in 2027 in the Assembly, and Council elections across the country.
As we continue our period of renewal, Michelle McIlveen and I will be working alongside our new and expanding team of Party Officers as we plan and prepare for the time ahead. Lord Morrow, Paul Givan MLA, Gregory Campbell MP, Paul Frew MLA, Diane Forsythe MLA, Emma Little Pengelly MLA and Carla Lockhart MP will serve as Party Officers. We will be joined by the Director of Elections and Campaigns Jonathan Buckley MLA and the Director of Party Development, Keith Buchanan MLA, both of which are new Party Officer posts created as part of our internal modernisation agenda.
Keith has already commenced significant work with our membership and party structures
Jonathan’s new role will build on the work we’ve already started - being active in communities, pursuing the issues that matter to people, and challenging government decisions where they fall short of what Northern Ireland needs. This is about doing politics differently and doing it well, but most of all being an effective campaigning voice for our community.
I am also proud of the strong gender balance in our officer team - something that reflects the party we are building. In Michelle McIlveen, Emma Little-Pengelly, Carla Lockhart and Diane Forsythe, we have capable, confident women playing a pivotal role in our team.
I look forward to welcoming further colleagues onto the Officer team in September as part of our ongoing programme.
We were especially proud this week to see Cllr Tracy Kelly become the first female DUP Lord Mayor of Belfast, and to have Cllr Frances Burton take the chair of Mid Ulster District Council and Cllr Stephen Moutray become Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. They alongside a number of our new deputy mayors and vice chairs demonstrate the depth and breadth of talent within our party which can give us confidence that the team is ready for the battles ahead.
I am immensely grateful for the belief shown in me to lead the Democratic Unionist Party, and proud that the DUP is serious about delivery and serious about winning. We’re not just aiming to retain seats; we’re preparing to gain ground.
Over the past few days there has been renewed speculation about the UK Government making money available to the GAA to re-build Casement Park. Regardless of whether the Government makes a contribution as part of its Spending Review allocations we will hold to the position that no one sport can be given special status above all others. Any additional money coming to Northern Ireland for sport must be allocated on a fair and equitable basis, a principle first agreed as part of the 2011 Executive agreement and not allocated to the exclusion of football and rugby. We will hold to that principle.
Our focus remains fixed on the significant issues ranging from the cost-of-living pressures, to accessing our healthcare system, education and promoting the skills of the next generation, the need for affordable housing for younger families, and ensuring prosperity and economic development in Northern Ireland.
Over the coming months, we will be towns, villages and country lanes across Northern Ireland. The DUP will be with you.If you want to be part of the team, please join the Party by clicking here ([link removed]) .
Yours sincerely,
Rt Hon Gavin Robinson MP
DUP Leader

------------------------------------------------------------
Deputy Leader Michelle McIlveen will bring a motion to the Northern Ireland Assembly on Tuesday, calling on the DAERA Minister Andrew Muir to scrap his Nitrates Action Programme proposals. What Minister Muir is proposing would be disastrous for our agriculture industry, and we believe he should go back to the drawing board and work with farmers to find a better way forward, that allows our agri-food sector to thrive whilst also acting to protect the environment.
Michelle’s petition has almost 4000 signatures. You can show your support for the campaign by signing the petition here ([link removed]) . Please also share on your social media and WhatsApp groups!
