John,
Fifty-one years ago, Black and Brown leaders took a stand against police brutality and discrimination during the Stonewall Uprising, launching what would become the modern movement for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. Now, BIPOC leaders and allies are continuing their movement, pushing for an end to systemic white supremacy, heterosexism, and anti-Blackness while fighting for equal rights and protections for all.
In honor of their continued struggle, we're hosting a special conversation on Wednesday, June 24th at 3PM ET to explore how the interconnection between queerness and immigrant experience can be a driving force for civic engagement and political leadership, especially in the time of COVID and police brutality protests.
Hosted in partnership with the Victory Institute, we'll be joined by New York City Councilmember Carlos Menchaca and Danielle Moodie, host of the radio show #WokeAF and co-host of the podcast democracy-ish. They'll share their perspectives as New Americans, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community during #ReadyToLead and #ReadyToLove: Political Power at the Intersection of Queerness, Color, and Immigration, providing inspiration on how we can keep driving our movement for inclusivity and justice forward.
Make sure you are a part of this key conversation in honor of Pride Month, Immigrant Heritage Month, and the ongoing fight for justice. RSVP now to reserve your spot!
Look forward to seeing you there,
