Letter from the Mayor
Dear Washingtonians,
Last week, we raised the Pride flag outside the John A. Wilson Building, a powerful tradition that represents our city’s pride, perseverance, and progress. And this year, the flag also marks a celebration that was hard-fought and well-earned: WorldPride 2025, right here in Washington, DC.
Already, more than 230 WorldPride events have taken place across all eight wards, and now, we’re heading into the biggest and busiest weekend of WorldPride 2025. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 7, the WorldPride Parade steps off at 2:00 p.m. from 14th & T Streets NW. You can register to walk with me in the parade here [ [link removed] ], and find a parade map and more details here [ [link removed] ]. After the parade and into Sunday, WorldPride will bring the energy to Pennsylvania Avenue for the WorldPride Street Festival and Concert [ [link removed] ], featuring an incredible lineup of local and national performers like Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, and more. It is free and open to everyone. Find more information and a full list of events at worldpridedc.org/events [ [link removed] ].
For decades, Washingtonians have led the way by marching, testifying, organizing, and showing the nation what it looks like to fight for—and win—equality. But as we celebrate, we also acknowledge and remember that not everyone has made it to 50 years of pride in DC, and not everyone feels safe to live openly and boldly. And that’s why we keep doing the work to ensure every person in our city has the safety and security to live their best lives.
And remember: you can get real-time updates on traffic, transit, city services, and more by texting WorldPrideDC to 888-777.
This weekend, let’s show the world how we do Pride in DC: with purpose and joy.
Sincerely,
Muriel Bowsercircle
