Holding Regional EPA Officials Accountable

Image

On Monday, I sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin requesting an investigation into communications between anti-agriculture activist organizations and federal civil service employees.

Earlier this year, the Cow Palace dairy in Yakima County, Washington, closed its doors after years of litigation from the EPA. This follows the closure of Liberty Dairy, also in Yakima County, in the fall of 2024.

The purpose of the federal government is to provide Americans with essential services, including navigating the complex regulatory burden placed on farmers. This coordination is appalling and should be investigated; if career staff did in fact coordinate with activists to target farmers, then those staff are not worthy of a taxpayer-funded salary.

Sending Aerial Firefighter Legislation to President Trump

Image

On Tuesday, the House passed S.160, the Aerial Firefighter Enhancement Act of 2025 that strengthens aerial wildfire suppression efforts by utilizing excess military aircraft and parts.

This legislation is a huge step in mitigating the impacts of wildfires and gives our firefighters the tools they need to keep our communities safe. Utilizing the Department of Defense’s excess aircraft gives aerial firefighters an upper hand while leveraging the assets we already have at our disposal.

I introduced the bipartisan companion legislation in the House of Representatives alongside in February. The version passed this week was sponsored by Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) and was passed by the Senate in April.

It now heads to President Trump's desk to be signed into law.

Moment of Silence for the Deckers Sisters

Image

I joined my colleagues from the Washington Congressional Delegation in offering a moment of silence on the House floor after the loss of three beautiful young girls from Wentachee, Washington-Evelyn, Paityn, and Olivia Decker.

We send our most sincere condolences to their family and the people of Wenatchee as they mourn this loss.

Remembering Tiananmen Square

Image

Wednesday marked 36 years since the Chinese Communist Party and People’s Liberation Army murdered protesters standing up to the corrupt, authoritarian regime in Tiananmen Square.

While we remember those lost in the tragedy, we cannot turn a blind eye to the fact the CCP refuses to acknowledge the reality of the events that day. They censor, distort, and rein down punishment on those that have the courage to speak the truth.

The United States has a long history of setting an example for others; an example that represents everything opposite of regimes like the CCP. That is why we as policy makers, and Americans, must remain steadfast in our responsibility to be a beacon of freedom and liberty around the world.

Funding USDA and Supporting American Producers

Image

On Thursday, my colleagues and I on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture met to consider our fiscal year 2026 funding bill.

The bill prioritizes agencies and programs that protect our nation’s food and drug supply. It supports American farmers, ranchers, and rural communities, and ensures low-income Americans have access to nutrition programs.

We are prioritizing fiscal responsibility and refocusing programs on their core mission while putting the health, safety, and prosperity of American producers and consumers first.

This legislation will now go on to be considered by the full Appropriations Committee before going to the House floor.

Catching up with Cattle Feeders

Image

This week I spoke with Will and Alika on issues facing cattle feeders in Central Washington.

We covered ways we can work together to mitigate the impact of the New World Screwworm and tools we can employ to protect livestock from wolves in the north part of the district.

FEMA Grant for Wildfire Recovery

Image

This week, FEMA issued a federal grant for wildfire recovery in Okanogan County.

This funding will be used to repair critical pieces of the power grid destroyed by wildfires including transmission lines, conductors, and power poles.

The grant amounts to $3,419,230 and will help the Okanogan Public Utility District in their restoration efforts.
