Explore over 4,000 miles of trails while celebrating the diverse natural beauty and historical sites of New Jersey on June 7, 2025, as the State observes National Trails Day. Events are being held across the State.
National Trails Day
Join one of 36 organized hiking events, such as a 6-mile trek along the Appalachian Trail or an 8-mile trail run at High Point State Park. Families can enjoy wildlife hikes at Stokes State Forest or scavenger hunts at Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park. History buffs can explore the Civilian Conservation Corps at Parvin State Park or visit the Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage Historic Site. Volunteer at Double Trouble State Park and Black Run Preserve to get involved with nature and trail preservation.
Youth Fishing Challenge
June 7 is also a free fishing day! Young anglers without licenses can participate in the Youth Fishing Challenge. Events will be hosted in all 21 counties.
Before heading out, check the real-time park status map to ensure your destination is open and not filled to capacity. Share your adventures using #NationalTrailsDay and #YouthFishingChallenge.
