Dear Neighbors and Friends,
I am writing to keep you informed about important developments at the Minnesota State Capitol. This morning, legislative leaders and the Governor agreed to an agreement for a special session to pass the remainder of the state’s budget. The regular rules of the House will be suspended to allow the legislature to pass all bills in a single legislative day, beginning on Monday, June 9, at 10:00 am. All bills must be passed before 7:00 am on Tuesday. Our goal is to pass 14 bills in one day.
As your State Representative, my top priority is to advocate for policies that strengthen the health, safety, and prosperity of our community.
This year, the Minnesota House of Representatives is evenly divided—67 Democrats and 67 Republicans. With this tie, it takes 68 votes to pass any bill. Unfortunately, the GOP has opposed and delayed many of the bills that would bring real value to our community, slowing progress on healthcare, education, and support for working families.
Despite these challenges, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my fellow party members and our leadership, who have worked tirelessly and in good faith to negotiate solutions. Their dedication has been crucial in keeping the process moving and preventing a government shutdown. We are not here for political games—we are here to get things done for you. While the GOP continues to push policies that prioritize billionaires, I'm deeply rooted in our community values and will work to protect vital legislation that serves all Minnesotans.
My commitment is to you—your family, your future, and the well-being of our community. I am here to ensure that every Minnesotan has the opportunity to thrive, and that our district’s needs are front and center. I will continue to fight for the values we share and for the future we all deserve.
If you have questions or would like to share your thoughts on the upcoming session, please reach out to my office. Your input is invaluable as we work together for a stronger, healthier, and more equitable Minnesota.
Thank you for your continued trust and engagement.
