John,
We know we sound like a broken record, but it has to be said again:
Elected leaders should work in the best interest of the people they represent. Not for themselves, not for special interests, and not to appease other members of their party.
So why did GOP members of Congress from Kentucky just vote for a bill that would slash SNAP benefits — cutting off food assistance for thousands of Kentucky families? Make no mistake: This is beyond cruel…it's downright evil, and it goes against everything we stand for.
This isn’t policy. It’s political theater at the expense of real people; the stated purpose for the cuts is to reduce spending, but the bill adds trillions of dollars to the debt. Congress is increasing our nation’s debt while taking food away from hungry Americans.
In Kentucky, hunger is on the rise, and food banks are struggling to meet demand. But, instead of responding with compassion and support, so-called "leaders" in the GOP are choosing party loyalty over human need and decency. This goes against everything we stand for here at In This Together PAC, which is why we’re fighting back.
In Kentucky and across the country, we’re working to elect leaders who care — leaders who won’t let kids go to bed hungry just to appease their political base. But we can’t do it without you. Chip in $5, or anything you can, to help Andy and the rest of our team hold extremists accountable and elect real, for-the-people leaders at every level. >> [link removed]
