Federal funding makes up half or more of the budgets of some local NPR and PBS
stations. For many communities—especially rural and underserved ones—NPR and
PBS are lifelines. These stations are not only sources of news, but also
provide crucial cultural, educational, and emergency services, including:

* Educational children's shows like Sesame Street

* Groundbreaking science and history through Nova and American Experience
* Trusted news from PBS NewsHour
* Programming that tackles mental health and wellness
* Emergency alerts for natural disasters, outages, and public safety issues
