Dear Fellow American, Thanks to a new state policy, Camp IdRaHaJe (from the hymn "I'd Rather Have Jesus"), a Christian camp serving kids in Colorado since 1948, is now being forced to make a choice.
A Colorado policy requires camps to let boys use girls' showers, dressing rooms, and sleeping quarters, and vice versa. When the camp asked to operate according to its faith (and common sense), the state said no.
Stop me if you've heard this before. State officials are prioritizing their radical political ideology. When that happens—when the law ignores reality—children pay the price.
The state is telling this camp that they can either stay true to their biblical beliefs about biological sex and risk losing their license, or abandon their beliefs and mission in order to continue operating.
That's not right—and it's illegal.
The government has no place telling religious summer camps that it's 'lights out' for upholding their religious beliefs about human sexuality.
That's why Alliance Defending Freedom recently filed a federal lawsuit defending the camp's right to uphold both religious convictions and common sense.
Camp IdRaHaJe's leadership wasn't looking to cause strife. But they made a choice to stand up for religious freedom—YOUR right to live and speak the truth. Will you sign your name to stand for religious freedom right now? I Stand with Camp IdRaHaJe
What is Camp IdRaHaJe? Camp IdRaHaJe, which derives its name from the song "I'd Rather Have Jesus," has served children in Bailey, Colorado, since 1948 and has maintained a resident camp license in the state since 1995.
Founded by "Uncle Paul" Eiselstein with 15 acres he purchased for $50, the camp now serves up to 3,000 campers each summer. Camp IdRaHaJe exists to present the truth of the Gospel to children who are building character and lifelong memories.
Camp IdRaHaJe is a Christ-centered camp, yet it welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds to its camps.
But that wasn't good enough for Colorado bureaucrats, who pushed a policy that punishes those who won't help further the state's gender ideology agenda.
Put simply: ministries like Camp IdRaHaJe are being punished for living out their mission.
That's why this new lawsuit is so important. Thanks to the support of people like you we're able to take on big cases like this—defending our fundamental freedoms, including the right to live out our faith.
You can show your support for the team at Camp IdRaHaJe by committing to pray for strength as they start on their legal journey, which could take years. You can also let them know you have their back by signing our statement of support right now!
Thank you for helping us stand up to this dangerous agenda that the Colorado government is pushing, potentially at the expense of THOUSANDS of kids who look forward to the camp experience and hearing the Gospel message.
In Christ,
Andrea Dill Legal Counsel Alliance Defending Freedom
P.S. New case! This Colorado Christian camp is being targeted by a state policy that would force it to allow boys to use girls' bathrooms and sleeping facilities—violating their religious beliefs. Sign your name to our statement of support for Camp IdRaHaJe and let them know you stand with them! |
