Pantsuits and Lawsuits Launches Two-Part Podcast Series Marking 10 Years Since Obergefell Marriage Equality Decision

*LANSING* – This month, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes are releasing a two-part series on their podcast, "Pantsuits and Lawsuits", reflecting on the legacy and ongoing fight for marriage equality 10 years after the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark "Obergefell v. Hodges" decision.  

In part one, now available, Attorney General Nessel takes listeners behind the scenes of "DeBoer v. Snyder, "the case she personally litigated, and which was later consolidated into "Obergefell. "In a candid and personal conversation, Attorney General Nessel recounts the legal and emotional challenges of the fight for marriage equality, the immediate impact of the ruling, and what the victory meant for countless families, including her own. 

Part two, which will be released on June 19, features April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, the Michigan couple at the heart of the case that changed history, sharing their own story of resilience, family, and hope. 

“Reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the Obergefell decision gives us an opportunity to look back at how far we’ve come in the fight for marriage equality,” Nessel said. “It was great to catch up with April and Jayne, who helped make that progress possible.” 

New episodes of "Pantsuits and Lawsuits" are released biweekly to break down complex legal topics in a way that is engaging, informative, and accessible to listeners. With their blend of expertise, humor, and straight talk, the attorneys general explore major legal cases, analyze state and national policy debates and discuss how attorneys general help shape justice. Through these discussions, listeners will gain a behind-the-scenes look at the work attorneys general do to serve and protect their communities.
