John — This week, I questioned Secretary of Education Linda McMahon about cuts to the Department of Education.

Her responses — when she gave them — were more than just disappointing. They were alarming, John.

For many of my questions, she would not answer directly. And when she did answer, she was reading off cards handed to her by an advisor sitting next to her.

As a former teacher, if my students were cheating on their tests like that, they would get an F.

Furthermore, when I asked her whether teaching African-American history was considered a DEI program, she gave a hypocritical answer. John, we need to make sure students understand the deep history of our country — including African-American history. But if Secretary McMahon had her way, there would be no African-American history taught in schools.

Republican leaders are cutting funding for schools, changing the curriculum to suit their best interests, and hurting our kids in the process. It is despicable, and I am fighting back.
