Dear Illinois Republican Family,

While most Illinois families were fast asleep, Democrats in Springfield rammed through the largest spending plan in state history — a staggering $55.2 billion budget packed with nearly a billion in new taxes and hundreds of millions in new spending on programs for illegal immigrants. And they didn’t stop there.

Under the cover of night and just minutes before the legislative deadline, Democrats tried to add insult to injury by attempting to passing a new $1.50 delivery tax — a charge that will hit nearly every household across Illinois. Whether you're ordering baby formula, pet food, or Friday night pizza, you could have been charged an extra $1.50 on nearly every delivery, regardless of the order size or supplier. From Amazon to DoorDash, this tax hits everyone — and hardest of all, it hurts working families just trying to make ends meet. The bill fortunately did not pass the House, however, we know the Democrats won't stop there.

In his floor speech, Senate Republican Leader John Curran made it clear:

“There is nothing ‘progressive’ about this tax. It hits everyone. And most of that money? It’s headed straight to bail out the Chicago Transit Authority, thanks to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s mismanagement.”

The attempt of the delivery tax was just one piece of a deeply flawed transit power grab, but it also included:

  • Higher taxes on rideshare services

  • New fees on EV charging

  • Real estate transfer tax hikes in the suburbs

  • A hostile takeover of Chicagoland transit boards, reducing suburban voting power

Meanwhile, this same budget grants nearly 5% pay raises to lawmakers, raids the rainy-day fund, and pours tax dollars into pork projects for the politically connected — while ignoring urgent needs across our state. Here’s what Democrats left out:

❌ No fix for the looming transit funding crisis

❌ No plan to protect our energy grid

❌ No action on election security or overdue pension reform

❌ No support for Illinois farmers or rural conservation needs

Illinois House and Senate Republicans stood united in opposition to this bloated, tax-heavy budget. We fought for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and common sense — and we will continue to do so. Our Senate and House Republican causes will continue exposing these bad policies, and we’ll never stop fighting for the families, workers, and communities who are being left behind by Illinois' tax-and-spend machine.

Illinois families are being pushed to the brink. Parents are juggling multiple jobs, seniors are scraping by on fixed incomes, and small businesses are fighting to survive — yet Springfield politicians continue to demand more. It’s not just unsustainable — it’s unacceptable.

For decades, Democrat leadership has spent recklessly, borrowed irresponsibly, and broken promises. The result? Crumbling roads, failing schools, rising crime, and a state drowning in debt. This isn’t about politics. It’s about standing up for the people who make Illinois home — and whose voices are being ignored.

When Democrats ram through billion-dollar tax hikes in the dead of night — while handing themselves pay raises and funding pet projects — they show us exactly where their priorities lie.Even if your representative is a Democrat, speak up. Let them know you’ve had enough. Find your legislator here. They work for you.

We’re not just fighting bad policy — we’re fighting for the future of Illinois. I’m with you, and together, we can turn the tide.

Let’s stand strong — and stand together.

The U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear the case brought by Congressman Mike Bost (IL-12) and Judicial Watch challenging an Illinois law that extends the acceptance of mail-in ballots up to 14 days after Election Day — a practice we believe violates federal election law and undermines public trust in our democratic process.

In Illinois, ballots can be counted even if they arrive two weeks after Election Day. In some cases, ballots without a postmark may still be accepted if they’re dated on or before Election Day. This policy opens the door to confusion, abuse, and doubt — and threatens the fundamental principle that elections should be decided promptly and transparently.

“Illinois voters deserve to know the results of their elections as early as possible,” said Illinois Republican Party Chair Kathy Salvi. “Only ballots received by Election Day should be counted – not ballots arriving two weeks later. Illinois’ extended ballot window creates a dangerous opportunity for bad actors and erodes public confidence. The Illinois Republican Party stands firmly behind efforts to strengthen and secure our elections.”

Congressman Bost added, “With the American people’s confidence in our elections at a discouraging low point, it’s more important than ever we restore their trust. Ensuring all votes are tallied by Election Day – not days or weeks later – is a vital part of that effort. I am thankful the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear this case. This is a critical moment for the rule of law and for safeguarding the future of our elections.”

The Supreme Court’s decision to take up this case gives us hope for a more transparent and accountable election system — not just in Illinois, but across the nation. We will continue to stand for commonsense reforms that restore faith in our democracy.
