In case you missed it, Rob recently spoke with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC about President Trump and Republicans’ many unlawful threats to Californians and how he’s fighting back.
The Trump administration announced plans to aggressively revoke Chinese student visas, which could impact 50,000 students in California alone. This is a discriminatory attack on students’ due process — Rob’s office is keeping a close watch on this and will get involved if the administration violates the Constitution.
Then, 48 California counties and dozens of cities were listed as “sanctuary cities” by the administration and put on notice to start collaborating with ICE to enforce Trump’s mass deportation agenda. We’re focused on keeping communities safe, not carrying out federal immigration enforcement.
Trump and Senate Republicans are also trying to revoke California’s clean vehicle waivers, a misguided effort that is pro-pollution, anti-environment, anti-health, anti-innovation, and anti-California. It’s not just wrong: it’s unlawful and has never been done before. We’re the biggest state in the country and leaders in both the nation and the world on climate action and clean vehicle innovation — we won’t be bullied into moving backward, so we will sue to block this.
Under Rob’s leadership, California has brought 23 lawsuits against the Trump administration in 19 weeks. In a majority of those cases, we’re winning and blocking the president’s unlawful, unconstitutional actions from harming Californians.
