John --

I held a press conference last week with local leaders to sound the alarm on a dangerous proposal that threatens the safety of our neighborhoods.

Compass Energy is pushing a massive lithium-ion battery storage facility right next to Saddleback College, neighborhoods, schools, and parks—without meaningful input from the people who actually live here. These facilities have a history of fires, toxic smoke, and environmental hazards, yet the state continues to strip local communities of the power to say “no.”

Standing alongside Laguna Niguel Mayor Ray Gennawey, San Juan Capistrano Mayor Troy Bourne, Councilmember John Campbell, retired LA County Fire Battalion Chief Ron Cabrera, and other local leaders, I made it clear: we will keep fighting back.

This isn’t just about one project. It’s about restoring local control and ensuring our communities have a voice when it comes to dangerous projects that impact our families.

I’ll keep standing with you to make sure our neighborhoods are safe—because Sacramento shouldn’t have the final say over what gets built in our backyards.

Thank you for your support. Together, we’ll keep fighting for what’s right.
