John,
Trump and Musk are having a social media breakup fit for reality TV—and the legacy media is all in.
The New York Times added a Trump–Musk live update ticker to its homepage, a treatment typically reserved for national tragedies, wars, or natural disasters. They even have a story about how Trump is selling his Tesla!
The Washington Post—the same outlet that pulled an ad buy earlier this year urging Trump to fire Musk—joined in with wall-to-wall coverage, including a front-page story headlined:
“The epic breakup of Trump and Musk’s White House bromance.”
Sure, it’s easy to laugh. Two of the world’s richest men going at each other like they’re cast members on The Real Housewives of the West Wing. But this isn’t a reality show.
This is our democracy. And while the media follows the spectacle, Trump’s administration is tearing lives apart—rolling out travel bans, pushing Medicaid cuts, and weaponizing the federal government for partisan gain.
Thank you for your support.
