Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s unlikely partnership has come to an end,
John.

Who could have seen this coming?

But in all seriousness, the online bickering between Trump and Musk is
exposing some fundamental problems with the Trump administration.

[ [link removed] ]TruthSocial Post from Trump: The easiest way to save money in our
budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to terminate Elon's
governmental subsidies and contracts.

For one thing, this shows the outrageous conflict of interest in Elon
getting massive federal contracts to begin with. If Trump is willing to
cancel the contracts because of an online spat, they clearly were awarded
because of Trump’s favoritism towards his biggest benefactor.

Elon expected special treatment for spending $100 million on last year’s
election. And for a time, he got it. But Trump can’t be bought — he can
only be rented. Now the deal is off.

And for another thing, Trump could care less about the national security
implications of giving Musk these satellite and space launch contracts —
or of canceling them — because it was never about whether these companies
were offering the best product or price.

Who knows how many other contracts or job postings have been granted to
Trump allies not based on merit but based on how willing they are to
support Trump, either through loyalty, money, or other ways of paying back
the president.

John, we need
to keep calling out the corruption. We can’t let it be normalized.
