Patriot,
Winsome Earle-Sears and I have something in common: We both thought that because we were black, we were Democrats. Of course, now we’re both conservatives, and Winsome is even running as a Republican to be Governor.
I remember being in a Burlington Coat Factory in 2008, and two ladies approached me asking who I was voting for. I couldn’t believe two black ladies would even ask me that. I responded, “Obama, of course!”
Then my husband introduced me to a book, Please Stop Helping Us. This book showed me how well-intentioned government programs may be meant to lift the poor out of poverty, especially poor minorities. But the truth is that many of these welfare programs only hold folks back from rising to the middle class.
In 2019, I met Winsome Earle-Sears at a conservative conference, and while walking to a restaurant, Winsome caught up to me and said, “Tywana Hampton?”
I said, “Yes?” and she said, “I hear you are the one to know.” It’s funny to think back on this meeting when you see everything she’s accomplished.
As I got to know Winsome, I realized what a sweet and caring person she is. She’s strong in her faith and lets God guide her through life.
I did everything I could to get her elected in 2021 as Virginia’s first black female lieutenant governor along with Governor Glenn Youngkin – door knocking, phone banking, attending rallies, you name it.
It was a labor of love, and it all paid off when she and Governor Youngkin were sworn in and got our state back on track.
Now, Winsome Earle-Sears is running to be Governor, and I’m so proud to support her and be there for her again. I’m doing her a favor today and emailing you asking you to support her campaign and make history:
