American politics is so divided these days — but there is one thing that unites almost all of us, and that is banning members of Congress from trading stocks.
Almost 90% of Americans — Republicans, Independents, and Democrats — overwhelmingly agree that members of Congress should not be playing the stock market while we hold office.
That's why Senator Ossoff introduced legislation to ban the practice shortly after he was elected.
Last month, he reintroduced it again.
Members of Congress are making decisions everyday that impact the stock market, that impact businesses and industries. And they receive confidential information on big events that are coming.
They should not be using their power and influence to personally profit through stock trades.
