In some 180 rulings so far, federal judges have stopped Trump from (1) deporting people without due process, (2) illegally closing federal agencies, (3) barring law firms from taking on cases Trump dislikes, and (4) silencing free speech on campus.
But now Trump and his lackeys in Congress are now trying to remove even that one last check on his power.
The so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” passed by the House last week includes a provision that would bar judges from holding Trump officials in contempt if they refuse to comply with court orders.
It’s effectively a green light for Trump to break the law with impunity, and it was slipped into the bill so last-minute that one House Republican admitted that he didn’t even know it was in there.

In our constitutional form of government, the Trump regime has every right to appeal rulings they think were wrongly decided, and a few will almost certainly end up in front of the conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court.
But Trump and his MAGA minions aren’t willing to abide by any rulings they don’t like. So they’ve launched an all-out assault on the judiciary as a co-equal branch of government.
In fact, the provision in the Trump mega-bill passed last week in the House is just the latest attack on judges.
Earlier this year, House Republicans passed a bill called the No Rogue Rulings Act, which would ban federal judges from issuing injunctions against Trump’s most lawless and damaging executive actions. A key House committee also passed a bill that would allow Trump to pack the courts with MAGA loyalists by adding 66 new judgeships nationwide.
Meanwhile, Trump and his lackeys are doing everything they can to undermine public confidence in the judiciary. It should be no surprise that personal threats against the safety of federal judges have risen dramatically since Trump took office.
