John,
The House-passed GOP budget is an economic wrecking ball aimed straight at immigrant families. Their plan would deny 4.5 million children access to the Child Tax Credit, slap thousands in fees on immigrant families, and funnel hundreds of billions of dollars into Trump’s deportation machine, all while forcing legal immigrants to pay more and get less.[1]
Americans for Tax Fairness’ new analysis shows that the average worker in industries that employ millions of Latinos—including construction, food service, and healthcare—will face $1,500 in higher annual expenses if the GOP budget becomes law alongside Trump’s price-hiking tariffs.[2]
These are working families who already pay higher effective tax rates than billion-dollar corporations. Immigrants who escaped violence and persecution now find themselves being punished by a tax- and service-cut scheme paired with a scattershot tariff program that’s rigged for the ultra-rich.
While Republicans protect tax loopholes for their billionaire donors, they want to cut Medicare and food assistance for immigrants who’ve paid in for decades.
It’s theft disguised as policy, and it’s targeting the people who hold up our economy. Tell the Senate: reject this anti-immigrant, pro-billionaire budget now.
The GOP plan doesn’t stop at cutting support. It actually penalizes states that dare use their own funds to help immigrant residents. It jacks up application fees for families trying to reunite with their children. It punishes kids, citizens, and legal residents by denying them benefits based solely on their parents’ immigration status.
The same budget renews massive tax cuts for the rich, adding trillions to the debt while blaming immigrants for budget woes. It’s the classic scam: rob from working families to write checks to billionaires. It’s no coincidence that Latino workers, already disproportionately affected by Trump’s tax laws, are again bearing the brunt.
These attacks are part of a broader right-wing strategy to scapegoat the vulnerable, let the rich skip out on taxes, and crush resistance with fear. But we won’t be silent.
Send your message now. The Senate must block this xenophobic, billionaire-backed budget.
Together, we can stop this cruel budget in its tracks and fight for a tax system that lifts up immigrant families instead of punishing them to protect billionaire fortunes.
