The Joint Finance Committee voted in favor of our priority issue!
Hi John,
I have BIG news to share! This afternoon I was at the Capitol for the Joint Finance Committee meeting and they voted 16-0 – a rare showing of bipartisan support – to increase the revenue bonding authority of the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program and the Clean Water Fund Program by $732 million!!! This was one of our top budget priorities at our Conservation Lobby Day.
So what does this mean? These programs have demonstrated track records of providing affordable financial assistance to communities for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Communities suffering from PFAS, lead, and nitrate contamination need more funding in these programs. Now, we are one step closer to ensuring Wisconsin can support projects like these and communities can have reliably safe drinking water.
Let me be clear – this happened because of you.
Hundreds of conservation voters came to the State Capitol for our Conservation Lobby Day to advocate for this very priority – and even more people wrote their legislators. Your stories, your presence, and your advocacy got us to this point.
But the work doesn’t stop here. You can help us get this funding in the final state budget by supporting our organizing efforts [[link removed]]. Our organizing team will be mobilizing people around the state to make sure we keep the pressure on our elected officials to get this over the finish line.
Look out for our next email with a link to write your legislators and keep the pressure on.
Thanks for being a conservation voter,
