Let me tell you what happened.
It was just after midnight on November 12, 2022, when Officer Daniel Sanchez responded to a 9-1-1 call about a man shooting a gun into a home.
When he arrived, he found the suspect—Rajan Moonesinghe—standing on a porch, AR-15-style rifle in hand, aimed at the open door of a house.
Officer Sanchez shouted for the suspect to drop the weapon. He didn’t.
With innocent lives at risk—including his own—Daniel made the only choice he could. He fired his weapon to stop the threat.
Officers tried to save the suspect’s life, but it was too late.
By every account, Officer Sanchez followed his training. He did his job. He protected the public.
But that wasn’t enough for radical Travis County District Attorney José Garza, who convened a grand jury and slapped Daniel with a third-degree felony charge.
If convicted, he could spend ten years in prison.
Just imagine it—ten years of his life stolen for doing exactly what he was trained and sworn to do.
This is a political prosecution. A witch hunt. And it’s ruining the life of a man who has dedicated himself to serving and protecting his community.
Daniel comes from a law enforcement family. He knew the risks when he put on that badge. But nothing could’ve prepared him—or his family—for this.
Despite everything, Daniel wants to return to the profession he loves. But right now, the only thing that matters is saving him from a prison sentence.
That’s why I’m turning to you.
His legal team is strong. They believe in him. But justice isn’t free—and his family has already emptied their savings trying to help him.
That’s where the National Center for Police Defense steps in. We don’t take a dime from the government. We rely on people like you to stand with innocent officers like Daniel when they need it most.
Please, make a gift of $35, $50, or whatever you can afford right now. Every dollar goes directly toward Daniel’s defense.
We can’t let political zealots destroy the lives of the men and women who keep us safe.
Let’s show Officer Sanchez—and every police officer in America—that when the system turns against them, we’ll still have their back.
Thank you for standing with our nation’s law enforcement.
Gratefully,
