The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for northern Minnesota through Friday, June 6, at 7 p.m.
To reduce additional air pollutants, burning permits will not be issued or activated. Campfires are discouraged.
For up-to-date information on fire danger and burning restrictions, visit www.mndnr.gov/burnrestrictions.
Smoke from Canadian wildfires is moving into northern Minnesota behind a cold front. Some areas will reach red quality index (AQI) category, considered unhealthy for everyone, while others in the northwest, north central and northeast are expected to reach orange air quality index (AQI) category, considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
