11:30 a.m. | The AFL-CIO building opens with an action party! There will be action stations throughout the lobby with the following opportunities:
- Call Congress about the reconciliation bill that cuts gender affirming care, Medicaid and SNAP.
- Write Congress about upholding due process for all and returning our immigrant brother Andry Romero, #FreeAndry.
- Sign a petition in support of restaurant workers, who are members of UNITE HERE Local 25, fighting for their union at STARR Restaurant Group and Knightsbridge Restaurant Group.
- Sign a No Contract/No Coffee pledge in solidarity with Starbucks Workers United.
11:45 a.m. | Speakers include AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, RWDSU-UFCW President Stuart Appelbaum, and members from UNITE HERE Local 25’s restaurant campaign, UAW’s Kennedy Center campaign, Starbucks Workers United and others! Pride at Work interim Executive Director Brittany Anderson will emcee.
12:30 p.m. | Depart from the AFL-CIO and march down to the National Mall to join up with the broader WorldPride March.
Wear your union and Pride at Work shirts, hats, buttons, etc.!
Public transportation, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and water are strongly recommended. Backpacks and bags are prohibited. Personal items may be carried in a clear plastic bag.
Parking availability and access in downtown D.C. shouldn't be expected this weekend due to WorldPride crowds and street closures, but if you must drive we suggest trying Colonial Parking. Please note the parade on Saturday, June 7, is separate from the march on Sunday, June 8!
Metropolitan Washington Council, Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council 51, and the D.C.-Baltimore chapter of Pride at Work will be walking in the WorldPride Parade on Saturday, June 7, and are inviting all union members to participate. This is our traditional Capital Pride Parade through the streets of D.C. Space is limited to 100 people. If you’d like to join on Saturday, please fill out this form to let the organizers know.
In solidarity,
Pride at Work Team
