John, don’t miss this. Don’t turn away. Republicans don’t want you to see what they’re doing.
“Quite frankly, what is in the reconciliation bill does more to support assassins than it does American families.”
— Massachusetts Representative Jim McGovern.
We wish that this was an exaggeration.
Not only did Republicans remove a $200 tax on gun silencers but they ALSO removed silencers from the purview of the National Firearms Act. What does that mean? Effectively the purchaser is not required to fill out a form with the ATF to purchase a silencer making background check enforcement for silencers unclear and possibly nonexistant.
Republicans accomplished this by sneaking these last-minute provisions into Trump’s budget reconciliation bill.
They did this quietly so they could push their pro-gun lobby agenda through without facing blowback.
Well, that’s not going to work with us, John.
If you vote to let silencers flood our streets, you are telling young people that our lives are disposable. But we are not disposable.
Let’s show them that we are the generation not too messed with. We’re going to continue to organize and uplift young people’s voices until our movement is loud enough to drown out the gun lobby once and for all.
