Did you see Susan Collins’ new TV ad? She used my words to attack Sara Gideon when she herself is guilty of the same campaign practices: skipping events with unscripted questions and spending that time raising big money from out-of-state donors to run TV ads.
In my debate closing statement last week, I expressed dismay that Sara Gideon is not showing up to candidate debates and forums. I stand by those words.
But the same can be said about Susan Collins. Collins has not hosted an open forum in over 20 years. She missed President Donald Trump's visit to Maine for an out-of-state high-dollar fundraiser and has taken more corporate PAC money than any politician in Maine’s history.
It’s time for a new kind of politics. That’s why we are in this race; to provide open, accessible, and progressive leadership to every Mainer. For the last forty years, I have put the interests of Mainers ahead of special interests and establishment politics. I will do the same as your next Senator.
