The days are heating up and so are the possibilities for exploration and adventure in Maine. 94% of Maine's forest land is privately owned, and Maine has a tradition of public access to private land for recreation. Help us keep the tradition going by becoming an Outdoor Partner for just $15 per year.
You contribution helps to support private landowners through:
- Enhanced law enforcement in areas where problems occur
- The landowner sign program, which offers an alternative to No Trespassing signs and aids landowners in managing access to their land
- Equipment to investigate and prosecute landowner abuse and criminal trespass complaints
- Promotional and educational programs designed to promote and maintain access
In addition to supporting the recreational community, your yearly membership automatically enters you into our weekly Outdoor Partners Program drawings. That's 52 chances each year to win exclusive merchandise from our network of supportive sponsors. This exciting opportunity not only adds an element of anticipation to your week but also gives everyone an equal chance to enjoy premium merchandise. It also creates a greater sense of community with our partners throughout the state.

On September 15, volunteers from 8 clubs and groups across the state gathered to help support landowners on our annual clean up day. With 147 cleanup sites provided by Maine Warden Service and Maine Forest Rangers, they collected 796 tires. At 17 statewide dumpster locations, 66 truckloads delivered 29.79 tons of trash that had been dumped on private land.
Once again we want to thank everyone for helping to make this event possible. We're grateful for the support of our partners, BDS Tire and Kittery Trading Post for assisting with waste management. Our partners and volunteers helped to provide relief for private landowners from accumulated trash dumped illegally on their property. Illegal dumping is one of the leading causes of private land being closed to public recreation.
The weight of trash removed from each of the teams has been calculated, and the top four teams have won gift cards donated by Kittery Trading Post in the amounts of $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, and $250 for fourth place:
- Husson College Conservation Law Program - 18 truck loads
- Standish Rod and Gun Club - 12 truck loads
- Narraguagus ATV Club -11 truck loads
- Wilton Fish and Game - 10 Truck loads
Thank you to our runners up for their participation this year:
- Landshare Riders ATV Club - 6 truck loads
- Bog Hooters ATV Club - 5 truck loads
- Lucas Yates - 3 Truck Loads
- Topsham Trailriders - 1 truck load
We appreciate everyone coming together to support our private landowners and preserve outdoor recreation in Maine.
