Save the date for October 7 No images? Click here John, As we gear up for the most important election of our lifetime, we want to invite you to save the date for our 28th Annual Breakfast of Champions. This year, we’re going virtual! Given the safety issues of hosting a 750-person event, the 2020 Breakfast of Champions will stream online at noon. Join us to hear from our guest speaker, Reverend Lennox Yearwood, Jr., President and Founder of the Hip Hop Caucus. As a national leader within the Green Movement, Rev. Yearwood works to bridge the gap between communities of color and environmental advocacy. He is a leader in campaigns calling for divestment from fossil fuels causing climate change, increasing diversity in the climate movement, ensuring everyone has clean water and air, and international efforts to address climate change. Rev. Yearwood is a board member of the League of Conservation Voters and we are excited to welcome him back to the (virtual) Breakfast stage after he joined us in 2015. We look forward to hearing what Rev. Yearwood has to say about the intersection between climate justice, racial justice, voting, and an open and fair democracy! You’ll also have the opportunity to meet WCV’s new CEO, Alyssa Macy, who comes to us from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, where she served as Chief Operations Officer for the Tribal government. Alyssa brings a strong background in political action, social justice, and Tribal leadership grounded in a deep, personal connection to our land, water, and the communities they sustain. We will be in touch with more details. In the meantime, please mark your calendars and plan to join us on Wednesday, October 7th. See you there, Shannon Murphy |
