Fellow activist,
As the federal government continues to push for the Trump regime’s so-called Big Beautiful Bill, which would strip critical resources away from hardworking Americans in order to give massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy (while ballooning our national debt by trillions of dollars in the process), we are sounding the alarm.
In Pennsylvania, our own budget process is well underway – with a deadline of June 30. That means our state’s funding priorities are going to be set well before Trump’s bill gets signed into law. Our state budget is a moral document – where legislators have a unique opportunity to pass legislation to counteract the “Big Beautiful Bill” and instead raise our minimum wage, fairly fund K-12 and higher education, legalize adult-use marijuana, and defend abortion access. But in order for that to happen, our state legislators must prioritize the needs of the people of Pennsylvania.
Will you help us engage our centered communities on the ground in understanding the role our state legislators play in advancing budget priorities that will move PA forward, not back, by rushing $25 or more in support of our civic education programs today?
According to The Morning Call, Trump’s federal budget bill would:
❌ Take away health care from 13 million people nationwide and 588,000 in Pennsylvania.
❌ Take away food assistance for three million nationwide and at least 120,000 in Pennsylvania, and it would cost the state of Pennsylvania over a billion dollars per year to maintain food assistance.
❌ Increase the deficit by over $2 trillion and would tilt our tax system even more heavily in favor of the wealthiest Americans.
As Governor Shapiro stated in the Pennsylvania Capital-Star, “Any lawmaker in D.C. who thinks the commonwealth can backfill this massive hole they’ve created is wrong – and these cuts will have real life consequences for Pennsylvanians. As this heads to the Senate for a vote, I hope common sense and a concern for the people of Pennsylvania will prevail.”
We need to ensure that voters in Pennsylvania understand what’s at stake and are prepared to hold legislators accountable who are not representing their needs and instead, prioritizing billionaires over our communities. Help fund our civic education programs so we can advocate for policies that work for everyone, not just a select few, by rushing $25 or more today →
