When I announced my intent to challenge Eliot Engel for his seat in Congress a year ago tomorrow, critics thought I was a long shot to beat such an entrenched incumbent who has 31 years in office under his belt and powerful interests and wealthy donors on his side.

But, as our campaign's message of progressive change reached hundreds of thousands of people across New York's 16th District, our movement took off. And now, not only have we closed the gap between us and Eliot Engel — we're actually ahead:

This is huge news, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you. But, while we're on the right track to win this election, we can't rest yet.

That's because the number of undecided voters is nearly three times as large as our lead over Eliot Engel. That means this race is still very much up in the air, and anyone could win. We need your help to reach as many of those undecided voters as we can before next Tuesday.

John, Eliot Engel and his team have also seen this poll. They're going to spend millions and millions more on attack ads and outreach aimed toward those undecided voters.

What's more, the political establishment — including the GOP — and dark money groups will funnel more and more cash into his campaign as they see the tide shifting in our direction. This poll is going to open up the floodgates because all of them will stop at nothing to make sure that Eliot Engel stays in Congress so he can continue voting for Wall Street, wars, and incarceration.

We need to counter that flood of spending with our own. We need to make sure we have a shot at cutting through the noise and reaching those undecided voters so they don't break toward Engel. Otherwise, our lead could evaporate overnight.
