Time to Put An End to Sanctuary Cities

When I decided to run for Congress in 2021, I promised to make border security a top priority.

The flow of illegal immigrants into the country are straining our social services. The flow of illegal fentanyl into our communities is killing our neighbors. Terrorists slipping in undetected are putting our nation at risk. And the human trafficking of innocent women and children is an unimaginable horror.

Since I took the Oath of Office 153 days ago, the progress we’ve made with President Trump’s leadership is historic. After watching Joe Biden allow 10 million people to enter our country illegally, we have:

• Reduced migrant border crossings nearly 100%

• Cut fentanyl traffic 54%

• Deported 135,000 illegals, including violent gang members from Tren de Aragua and MS-13

In the heart of the 7th Congressional District, the City of East Lansing, listed by the Department of Homeland Security as a sanctuary city, are defying the Trump Administration’s efforts to deport people who entered our country illegally. That includes violent criminals, drug traffickers, and people who are eroding the safety of our communities.

That’s not what the American people voted for and it ignores that the very first act each of these people committed was violating our immigration laws to enter and work here illegally. Our citizens deserve a government that puts their interests over illegal immigrants. That’s what I’m committed to.

I voted to finish the Border Wall and am working to make sure every city, every county, and every resident complies with our immigration and border laws. Ignoring these protections of our nation’s sovereignty is not an option.
