Fire Recovery and Resilience Workforce Program Provides Hiring and Training Support
The Fire Recovery and Resilience Workforce Program provides immediate hiring and training support for impacted and dislocated workers from the January 2025 windstorms and wildfires in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Department of Economic Opportunity and the region’s America’s Job Centers of California. The goal of the Program is to ensure that all impacted workers have career pathways that lead to new and better jobs, and opportunities to participate in the recovery and rebuild of our fire-impacted areas.
This program also supports businesses – those who are impacted as well as those who are interested in accessing hiring and training services – and training providers who may offer their skills training to impacted workers.

📅 Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Recovery Fund Grant: This Friday, June 6, 2025 - For both the Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire areas, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a Small Business Recovery Fund.
The grant applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available funds. For qualification information and to apply for a Small Business Recovery Fund grant, or to contribute, visit LAChamberRecoveryFund.com.
📅 The LA County Department of Arts and Culture Free Temporary Artwork Storage: This Friday, June 6, 2025 - Free temporary storage for artworks to artists and community-based organizations who have lost access to home storage, studio space, commercial storage, or other areas for storing artwork due to the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Storage will be offered on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to applicants in the immediate fire perimeter. 📅 Disaster Unemployment Assistance: June 10, 2025 - Los Angeles County workers, business owners, and self-employed people affected by the wildfires have until Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to apply for federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Click here for more information.
📅 Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) Altadena Disaster Relief Small Business Loan Program: June 30, 2025 - Fire-impacted Altadena storefront businesses have until Monday, June 30, 2025 to apply for loans of up to $75,000. 📅 Foreclosure Relief for Wildfire-Affected Homeowners: July 7, 2025 - There is a foreclosure moratorium for FHA-insured single-family mortgages in effect until July 7, 2025. If you need guidance exploring foreclosure prevention options, Department of Consumer and Business Affairs counselors are available to help. 📅 Economic Injury Disaster Loans: October 8, 2025 - Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations located in a declared disaster area and which have suffered substantial economic injury may be eligible for a Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan.  Owners of Properties with Fire Debris Who Didn't Opt-In to Government Debris Removal Program Have Until June 30, 2025 to Clear Debris
Private property owners with fire debris who have opted out of the government-sponsored debris removal program, or did not opt-in to that program, have until June 30, 2025 to complete debris removal.
If cleanup is not completed by this date, the property may be declared a Public Nuisance. The County may take steps to remove fire ash and debris from the property; the cost of this debris removal will be charged to the property owner. If not paid, the cost may be recovered through a lien on the property.

The County of Los Angeles has an introductory resource guide for planning, designing, and constructing healthy, fire resilient, and efficient buildings and properties. The resource guide is for property owners—and design and building professionals supporting property owners—faced with post-fire rebuilding. The resource guide also supports those considering retrofitting existing structures and/or building new structures regardless of fire impacts.

Self-Certification Pilot Program Launched to Speed Rebuilding in Unincorporated Areas
The Building Plan Self-Certification Pilot Program is designed to streamline plan review and help homeowners rebuild faster following the Eaton and Palisades Fires.
Under this program, California licensed architects and engineers can self-certify that their building plans comply with the Los Angeles County Building Code, eliminating the need for a full plan check review. Architects and engineers interested in participating in the program must register at recovery.lacounty.gov/rebuilding/self-certification.
A list of professionals registered to self-certify will be available at recovery.lacounty.gov/rebuilding. Only architects and engineers who register in advance will be able to self-certify plans.
Eligible projects include the replacement of single-family homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and appurtenant structures that were damaged by the Eaton or Palisades Fire and are located in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
All required approvals from other L.A. County departments – including Regional Planning, Public Health, and Fire – must still be obtained prior to the issuance of a building permit.
L.A. County Public Works will continue to offer traditional plan checks and other rebuilding tools, including preapproved standard plans that have already been reviewed for code compliance.

Free Testing for Lead
The Department of Public Health is offering free blood lead testing for those concerned about exposure to lead from the recent wildfires.

Free Fire Recovery Conservation Clinic for Artworks and Other Belongings
Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This clinic is made possible by Art Recovery LA, Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, and Getty.
For condition assessments of your recovered artworks and belongings, cleaning objects to remove soot and ash, demonstrations to remove the smell of smoke from small objects, and custom archival boxes for safe storage.
