Hi folks,
I’m Colorado State Treasurer Dave Young, and I’m running for Congress in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, one of the country’s most competitive seats.
I’ve been a teacher, a State Representative, and State Treasurer. I’ve learned that together, there’s nothing Coloradans can’t accomplish.
Right now, our leadership is selling us out and letting us down. In a moment, I’m going to tell you more about myself and this race. But first, you can help our campaign flip CO-08 blue and get Colorado back on track by becoming a Founding Donor now.
For 24 years, I taught math, science, and education at Heath Junior High School in Greeley. I experienced firsthand how challenging it is for educators, students, and parents to deal with the constant threat of budget cuts—and how important it is to have access to strong, accessible public education.
While teaching, I served in the Greeley Education Association for 24 years and as the President of our union for two years. I fought on the frontlines to increase teacher pay, defend PERA, and ensure our students had the resources they needed to succeed.
In 2011, I decided to run for the Colorado House of Representatives. I knew that in office I could further the fights I led as an educator and union leader—and take on new ones that were personal to me, like fighting for people like my sister, who faces daily challenges because of her disability.
As a state representative, I fought to increase funding for those with disabilities, invest in our public schools, and protect our public lands. I was a member of the Joint Budget Committee, responsible for writing and balancing our state’s budget. I fought hard for the values my constituents cared deeply about and worked across the aisle to ensure all voices were included.
In 2018, I won the election to become the Colorado State Treasurer. You don’t need me to tell you that Colorado and our country have faced some incredibly turbulent times since I was first elected. Despite this, I’ve worked to keep the state financially solvent, pay our bills, and ensure that Coloradans didn’t face additional economic stress.
Under my watch, Colorado has had the resources to fund critical programs like our public schools and infrastructure improvements. I’ve protected our state’s employee pension program and Colorado’s SecureSavings program so that Coloradans can retire with dignity.
Whether as an educator, a union leader, a state representative, or state treasurer, my mission has been the same—fighting to make life better for Colorado’s working families and their children.
That’s precisely why I’m running to represent Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. I believe I have the right experience and vision to win and serve the people of CO-08.
CO-08 is one of the most competitive races in our country, and it’s going to take all of us to win this campaign. Friend, I would be honored to have your support. Can you join as one of our campaign’s Founding Donors?
