I’m reaching out because right now, Republicans in the Senate are considering the House-passed budget that will gut critical programs like Medicaid just to give the ultra-wealthy another tax break.

Let’s get one thing straight: Kicking millions of Americans off their health care to give the wealthiest among us another tax cut isn’t just wrong, it’s inhumane.

Slashing Medicaid would be utterly devastating: Over a million Coloradans rely on Medicaid every month for essential health care services, and rural hospitals that serve Medicaid patients could go under if Republicans get their way and strip coverage from millions of Americans.

This is personal to me. When I was Governor of Colorado, we expanded Medicaid and got our state to nearly universal coverage on my watch — and I refuse to let Republicans rip away the progress we’ve made.

I’ve already voted against Republican cuts to Medicaid twice, and I’m committed to doing everything in my power to stop these dire cuts from passing the Senate.
