Folks often say politics is a game of chess. Well, I can tell you this, there are a lot of pawns out there in Washington.
I refuse to take a dime of corporate PAC money. At the end of the day, the only people I want to owe anything to are the people in my home state. I can’t imagine being the pawn of some billionaire or corporation, or worse, Donald Trump.
But taking stances like this makes things harder. There’s no one out there cutting me big old ol’ checks or funneling dark money into a Super PAC. I’ve got to do this dollar by dollar, and I'm ok with that because it’s true to the Senator I want to be.
I know a lot of you have lost faith in our leaders. So this may sound corny, but I really do believe politics is the art of the possible. Together, we can have big visions and make them a reality.
