Los Angeles Area Emmy® Award Nominations

Los Angeles County is honored to be nominated for two LA Area Emmy® Awards. Battle Buddies Ease Life After Combat was nominated in the Information Segment category and County Critters: LA County’s Animal Workforce Reports for Duty, which appeared on our news magazine show, LA County Close-Up, was nominated in the L.A. Battle Buddies Combat Homelessness

The Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) is the first community-driven support network serving veterans and their families in the U.S.  Led by veterans for veterans, VPAN connects L.A. County Departments, nonprofits, the V.A., and L.A. City Programs to help veterans navigate often complicated systems to connect to resources. VPAN prioritizes hiring veterans as “battle buddies” and systems navigators to connect assist their fellow veterans.

County Critters: LA County’s Animal Workforce Reports for Duty

In this special edition episode: Meet the working animals of Los Angeles County. They are cute, cuddly, smart and loyal, and they're a vital workforce lending talents to serving the needs of residents.

The awards will be presented Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Skirball Cultural Center.

Paid Summer Opportunities for Youth in LA County

Earn money this summer while working with credentialed educators to provide reading and math tutoring to school-age students. Los Angeles County residents ages 14 to 24 who are legally authorized to work in the United States are eligible to apply.

The Natural History Museum's final event MUSIC AND THE MIND on June 6 will explore how listening to music impacts the mind and well-being, what has changed in the way we listen to music over time, the social and personal benefits of listening to music, what the music we listen to says about us as people. 

Take in a stimulating talk in the new NHM Commons Theater, listen to live music in the Nature Gardens, enjoy DJs, sound baths, art installations and other activities in the galleries throughout the Museum. For more details, click here.
