Hi John, it’s Congresswoman Sarah McBride.
It’s June, which means we’re celebrating
Pride Month -- an opportunity to honor the legacies and accomplishments of LGBTQ+ trailblazers from the past and present.
I am honored to serve the great state of Delaware as the first openly transgender member of Congress.
It hasn’t been easy, John: Instead of focusing on what issues are truly at hand, for both Delawareans and hardworking Americans nationwide, the House GOP decided to obsess over what bathroom I use and continue their attacks on transgender people nationwide.
But John, their attacks are about more than just me. What they’re actually doing is using trans people as pawns in their scheme to gut the federal government and line the pockets of Donald Trump’s buddies.
John, the best way to put a stop to the GOP’s attacks on LGBTQ+ rights is to take back the House and end the Trump Trifecta. We’re in a strong position to take back the House for Democrats next year, but only if we garner enough support from Pennsylvania donors just like you. Can you chip in $4 or whatever you can today to help the DCCC compete against MAGA megadonors and give us the best possible opportunity to flip the House blue?
Pride is a call to action. It's a reminder of how far we've come and how far we have to go.
It's a reflection of our capacity to create seemingly impossible change -- and the responsibility we all hold to continue the march towards justice.
John, I didn’t run for Congress to talk about which bathroom I use. I ran to advocate for the people who are facing life’s biggest challenges and those who love them.
While we see attacks against our community from far-right extremists both nationally and in states across the country, please also know that there are millions of people fighting alongside us, to fight for you and to deliver progress for all of us.
Please consider donating $5, $10 or $4 to the DCCC today to support their efforts to elect House Democrats, combat right-wing extremism and hate, and continue the fight for equality. Your support in this moment means the world, John.
Thank you,
Sarah McBride
