Dear John,
This month marks both the 12th observance of Immigrant Heritage Month and the 13th anniversary of DACA [[link removed]] . Unfortunately, while we celebrate the achievements of our partners and immigrant communities, we are also seeing unprecedented attacks on immigrant rights and safety. Through policy changes, enforcement actions, and intimidation, the Trump administration is doing all it can to make this an unwelcoming country for all immigrants.
But adversity has always made immigrant communities stronger. As we move forward, we celebrate stories of immigrants who have persevered with strength and dignity, and we will continue in our work to protect families this Immigrant Heritage Month and all year.

Data Privacy: Update on USDA’s Attempt to Grab Data about SNAP Applicants and Recipients
On May 22, SNAP recipients filed suit [[link removed]] to stop USDA from collecting SNAP recipient data from states until USDA complies with federal procedures. Earlier this week, on June 2, the judge denied a motion [[link removed]] for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunctions based on USDA’s declaration [[link removed]] that no data had been collected, and that the agency planned to take the required process steps, including issuing a SORN, before collecting any data from states. PIF will continue to monitor states and USDA’s actions, and share updates on the USDA page of PIF’s Executive Branch Tracker [[link removed]] .
Policy: Reconciliation Policy Brief Series
The Children Thrive Action Network [[link removed]] and several partners have created a series of briefs on the House passed reconciliation package. This legislation seeks to drastically cut funding for Medicaid and SNAP and bar eligibility to health coverage, food assistance, and tax credits and instead funnel that money to give $1.1 trillion in tax breaks for the wealthy, with added costs to fund immigration enforcement actions that separate families and traumatize children. These policies are likely to increase child poverty; weaken Medicaid; restrict SNAP; increase fees for asylum seekers, sponsors of unaccompanied children, and children who are applying for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status; and fund family detention.
