Hello Partners,

Today, Consumers First, a national alliance representing families, working people, employers and primary care clinicians, is releasing its new administrative advocacy agenda of vetted and bipartisan policy recommendations that will advance the collective goals of making our health care system work better, lower health care costs, and improve health outcomes for all Americans. This agenda is accompanied by our coalition’s legislative agenda, which was released earlier this year.

As policymakers and administration officials rush forward to make major changes to our health care system that would have serious implications for health care coverage, we are urging them to instead follow this roadmap to advance a true affordability agenda that lowers health care costs, reins in industry gaming, and does not threaten access to high-quality health care.

The coalition urges the administration to pursue solutions to:

  • Drive down costs and improve quality for consumers, working people, and employers by addressing consolidated healthcare markets and removing distortions created by ineffective payment systems.
  • Lower prescription drug costs for our nation’s families.
  • Increase price and quality transparency to create a more efficient, fair and equitable health care system.
  • Establish national data-sharing and interoperability standards to reduce waste and improve health care quality.
  • Develop and implement a national health workforce strategy to address persistent shortages and improve care delivery.

This agenda is the work of the coalition’s steering committee, which includes AFSCME, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Benefits Council, Purchaser Business Group on Health, and Families USA.

Thank you, and please reach out if you have any questions.
